Ty Taylor

Hired in October of 2012, Ty Taylor enters his fourth season, as head basketball coach.  With three seasons in the books, Taylor’s hope is to “continue to promote our program so that we attract the right student-athletes who exemplify our team values and share in our vision.” The 2015-16 season will boast, eight returners from last year’s roster.  “Each year the primary objective is to recruit additional depth and talent,” expressed Taylor, “in three years we have been able to move the dial, maybe not to the degree that we want, but it is definitely moving in the right direction.”

This year marks Taylor’s 25th overall season in the coaching realm and his 15th within the collegiate ranks. Prior to coming to Cedar Crest, in 2011-12, Taylor served as the assistant coach at NCAA Division II, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference School, Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. While with the Griffins, he was responsible for post player development and aided in scouting and recruiting.

At Cedar Crest, Taylor is presently the Interim Director of Athletics, Recreation & Wellness. Previously he held the position of Associate Director of Athletics for Operations and Facilities as well as Head Cross Country Coach.  He is a native of Philadelphia, Pa., and is a 1987 graduate of West Philadelphia Catholic High School for Boys, where he was a member of the football program.  Taylor continued his academic studies at College Misericordia, then an NAIA Division II member of the Keystone Athletic Conference.  He was one of the founding members of the Misericordia club soccer team, which, by his senior season, had joined the NCAA Division III.  Taylor earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration and marketing from Misericordia (Class of 1991).

Taylor currently resides in Delaware County with his wife, Cat, his three children, Sarah, Nicholas and Matthew and their Rottweiler-Pitbull mix, Abbie.
