Allentown, PA – Days of persistent rain made for interesting conditions today as Cedar Crest hosted the Pacers of Marywood University in soccer. A predicted clearing never arrived and the game was played in a continuous drizzle. The Pacers proved to be "mudders," winning the CSAC matchup 8-0.
Marywood, which has won six games by shutout this season, took a 3-0 lead into the halftime break. The Falcons faltered early in the second half, allowing a second goal by Marywood's Olivia Habicht just over four minutes in and then two more goals by Tayler Simmons in a span of six and a half minutes to put the game on the shelf. Sophomore goalkeeper Daniella Mendez (Cedar Grove, NJ/Montclair Kimberly Academy) had 25 saves in 68 minutes in goal.
Cedar Crest drops to 0-10 overall and 0-5 in the CSAC on the season. Marywood improves to 7-3-1 and 4-1 in the CSAC.
Following their fall break hiatus, the Falcons will resume CSAC play by hosting Philadelphia Biblical on Thursday October 13, at 4:00 p.m.
