Allentown, PA - On Labor Day Sunday, Cedar Crest labored for nearly 78 minutes in a scoreless game against Hood College before sophomore Lauren Salge (Robbinsville, NJ/Allentown) poked in the game-winning goal in overtime. The home win was the first for new Head Coach Cindy Joseph.
The steadily-improving Falcons finally seemed to be hitting their stride, getting off 12 shots and holding Hood to just six. Blazer goalie Anne Marie Hantman kept her team in the game with nine saves until missing the crucial OT shot by Salge, on a pass from Jess Sanchez (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan). Earlier, Hood appeared to have the game won with an apparent goal in overtime which was overturned by the officials. Cedar Crest sophomore Lindsay Harrison (Hanover, PA/Littlestown) had her second complete game in the cage in two days and rejected four Blazer shots in the win.
Cedar Crest improves to 1-2 overall on the season, while Hood drops to 0-2.
The Falcons will play another non-league game at Arcadia University on Tuesday, September 7, at 4:00 p.m.
