Baltimore, MD - In what is hopefully a breakthrough victory, Cedar Crest topped the Gators of Notre Dame of Maryland University on the road for their first win and first Colonial States Athletic Conference win of the season.
The Falcons scored first just 9:44 into the game when an unassisted shot by junior Becca Lowe (Richmond, VA, James River) found the back of the cage. Despite quite a few attempts, Cedar Crest goalkeeper Lindsay Harrison (Hanover, PA, Littlestown) was able to keep the Gators off the board for the first half, sending Cedar Crest into the halftime break up 1-0.
Early in the second half, the Gators tied it at one apiece on a goal by Rachel Jones, but the Falcons answered with about 15 minutes remaining when junior Lauren Salge (Robbinsville, NJ, Allentown) gave her team the lead for good on a pass from sophomore Erin Studer (Kent, CT, Housatonic Valley Regional). Harrison ended the day with 11 saves in a complete game, a critical component to the win as Notre Dame outshot Cedar Crest 19-11.
Cedar Crest improves to 1-7 on the season and is now 1-2 in the CSAC. Notre Dame drops to 2-4 and 0-3 in the conference. The Falcons continue their sojourn south of the Mason Dixon Line with a game at Hood on Sunday, October 2nd, at 2:00 PM.
