Falcons Stumble Versus Keystone

10/18/2011 5:29:00 PM

Scranton, PA – Playing a road game at Marywood University against Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Keystone College, Cedar Crest fell to the Giants, 4-0.

The score belies what was otherwise a very evenly-matched game. In the first half, despite five shots by the Falcons and six by the Giants, the action was mostly scoreless until Keystone's Olivia Kashuba rang one up from inside the 18 with less than five minutes until the break. But the one point halftime deficit became an insurmountable 4-0 lead when Keystone scored three goals in a 15 minute span in the second half to put the Falcons away.

Despite outshooting the hosts 12-10 in the game, Cedar Crest could not find the key to victory. Eight of those shots came from senior Jennie Huber (Palmerton, PA/Pleasant Valley), who had a solid day. Keystone's keeper Rebecca Dinelli kept the Falcons scoreless by tallying nine saves on the day. Krysten Gillan (Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade) had three saves for Cedar Crest.

With the conference loss, the Falcons are now 1-10-2 overall and 0-6-1 in the CSAC. Keystone improves to 5-9-1 and 1-8 in conference. On Saturday, October 22nd, Cedar Crest will try to regroup as Immaculata University comes to town. Game time is 2:00 PM.
