Bethlehem, PA - A short trip across town to local non-conference opponent Moravian College resulted in a 7-0 shutout for Cedar Crest on Thursday.
The Greyhounds scored early and often, jumping out to a 1-0 lead just over four minutes in on the first of two Briana Van Buskirk goals. Catherine Duffin soon had the first of her two goals at the 8:54 mark, and goals in the 21st, 27th and 33rd minutes stretched the halftime lead to 5-0 in favor of the home squad. The Falcons got off just one shot in the half and had no penalty corners in contrast the Greyhounds' 15, but junior goalie Lindsay Harrison (Hanover, PA/Littlestown) shined with 15 saves in the half.
Moravian added two goals early in the second half to reach what would ultimately be the final score of 7-0. Cedar Crest's offense was much more active in the second half, getting off six shots to Moravian's 14 and being awarded three penalty corners, but the Falcons were unable to find the back of the cage. Harrison had five more saves in the second half to total 20 on the day.
With the loss, Cedar Crest drops to 1-13 overall and remains 1-5 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Moravian improves to 8-6 and 1-3 in the Landmark Conference. Next up, the Falcons host CSAC opponent Neumann University on Senior Day, the last home game of the season, on Saturday, October 22nd, at 11:00 AM.
