Box Score
Allentown, PA - For a good ten minutes of Saturday's game against Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Cabrini College, Cedar Crest looked like giant killers.
Despite the fact that the Falcons were 0-3 in the CSAC while Cabrini was 3-0, Cedar Crest matched the Cavaliers bucket for bucket in a spirited opening ten minutes or so. They even held a 16-15 lead at the 10:34 mark before a series of turnovers and missed shots opened the floodgates for a crushing 28-2 Cabrini run to finish the first half. The score at the break was 43-18.
Halftime adjustments helped somewhat, but Cabrini's fresh legs eventually overcame the Falcons and led to a 79-45 loss. Senior Lizzy Sunderhaus (Hamilton, OH/Stephen T. Badin), who had been sidelined by injury, returned to the lineup but played sparingly today.
The Falcons shot just 31.4%, and struggled from the charity stripe where they were just 46.7% (7 of 15). They were also out-rebounded 51 to 23.
Sophomore Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr) led the Cedar Crest scoring with 14 points. Sunderhaus and junior Megan Demutis each had 12, DeMutis on 4 of 6 shooting from beyond the arc.
The Cavaliers' Brittany Sandone led all scorers with 17.
Cedar Crest drops to 1-7 overall and 0-5 in the conference, while Cabrini is 5-3 overall and 4-0 in the CSAC. The Falcons resume play in Key Largo, Florida, on December 31st.
