Box Score
Scranton, PA - Cedar Crest traveled to Colonial States Athletic Conference foe Marywood University on Saturday and came away with not only an 85-41 loss, but a key injury as well.
Cedar Crest turnovers and some cold shooting early on made things look tough for the Falcons. Then to add injury to insult, with Marywood up 25-14 at the 10:24 mark, Cedar Crest senior Lizzy Sunderhaus (Hamilton, OH/Stephen T. Badin) suffered an inadvertant blow to the face and was unable to return to the game. Sunderhaus left with four points and seven rebounds.
With their main scoring threat sidelined, Cedar Crest continued to struggle, falling behind 46-21 at the half.
The second half was no better, as Marywood's fresh legs eventually forced the undermanned Falcons into 30 turnovers on the afternoon resulting in 33 points. Fifteen Pacers saw minutes compared to the Falcons' seven.
Freshman Mattie Hallquist (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) was pressed into service in Sunderhaus' absence and performed well, leading Cedar Crest in scoring with 11 points and in rebounds with nine.
The Pacers' Ashley Murray and Allison Bruett each had 16 points for the hosts.
Cedar Crest is now 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference. Marywood improves to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the CSAC. The Falcons finally return home for a CSAC matchup with Rosemont College on Wednesday, December 7th, at 7:00 PM.
