Falcons Lose Conference Opener vs Cabrini

9/16/2011 9:24:00 PM

Allentown, PA – Last season, the Falcons fell to Colonial States Athletic Conference foes Cabrini College by a score of 7-0. This season, a much-improved Cedar Crest team kept the game closer but unfortunately fell by the score of 3-0 at home in their conference opener.

The game remained scoreless for the first 15 minutes or so, until Dana Drake broke the ice with a goal on a Bethany Feinberg assist. Kara Hinkelmon and Gabby Meck connected for a second goal with just under 10 minutes to go before the half to put the Cavaliers up by a still-within-reach score of 2-0. But an unassisted Alex Tralie goal on a drive straight through the defense early in the second half showed that even with the strides the Falcons have made this season, they still have a few things to work on.

The Cavs spent a lot of time on the offensive side of the field, getting off many more shots than Cedar Crest. Goalie Krysten Gillan (Maple Shade, NJ, Maple Shade) had 22 saves on the day to keep things from getting out of hand, but the Falcons could only manage three shots on the other end.

Cedar Crest is now 0-3-1 overall and 0-1 in the CSAC. Cabrini improves to 2-1-1 and opens conference play 1-0.

Next up, the Falcons will travel to Gwynedd-Mercy for a CSAC matchup on Wednesday, September 21st, at 4:00 p.m.
