Falcons Lose to Both Marywood and the Weather

9/28/2011 10:46:00 PM

Allentown, PA - The Marywood University Pacers came to town for a Colonial States Athletic Conference game today at Cedar Crest, and left with an easy, though soggy, 7-0 win.

The Pacers scored on a penalty stroke by Kathryn Morin less than three minutes in and never looked back. The Falcons struggled offensively and spent the majority of their time on the defensive end of the field. Marywood scored four more in the first half to give themselves a 5-0 halftime lead, then added two more early in the second half as icing on the cake.

The last thing anyone needed at that point was a rain delay, but the cloudy skies began to display lightning with just 13:48 left to play, resulting in a 65-minute suspension until play could resume. The torrential downpour during the suspension, and continuing driving rain during the final minutes, left the field completely underwater and the quality of play akin to a backyard Slip-n-Slide. Despite a few attempts, no further shots could find the mark.

Lindsay Harrison (Hanover, PA, Littlestown) had a busy afternoon, recording 21 saves in a complete game as the visitors out-shot the Falcons 36-2.

Cedar Crest drops to 0-7 overall and 0-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference, while Marywood improves to 2-6 overall and 2-1 in the CSAC. The Falcons will make a southward swing this weekend to play CSAC rival College of Notre Dame on Saturday and non-conference foe Hood on Sunday.
