Allentown, PA - Adorned in pink accessories in honor of the Athletic Department's "Think Pink Day" to raise breast cancer awareness, the Cedar Crest field hockey team convincingly defeated Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Notre Dame of Maryland University 7-0 on Saturday.

The time of possession heavily favored the Falcons, and led to first half goals from Brittany Hartman (Myerstown, PA/Eastern Lebanon County), Emily Rodenberger (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen), and Rebecca Lowe to make the score at the half 3-0.

Even after halftime adjustments, Cedar Crest was just too much for the Gators, with Wendy Martin (Mt. Pleasant Hills, PA/Midd-West) scoring just nine seconds into the second half and Rodenberger adding a second goal just minutes later to push the score to 5-0. Lauren Salge (Robbinsville, NJ/Allentown) and Vivianna Samite (Oakridge, NJ/Jefferson Twp.) each added another to reach the 7-0 final midway through the second half. Salge and Hartman each had an assist, and Martin had two.

The Falcons outshot the Gators 23 to 2. Lindsay Harrison (Hanover, PA/Littlestown) and Kaitlyn Brendlinger (Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.) spilt time in goal, but each had just one save.

With the win, Cedar Crest improves to 6-8 overall and 2-3 in the CSAC. Notre Dame is still seeking their first win of the season. The Falcons will next host non-conference opponent Elmira College on Monday, October 15th, at 4:00 PM.
