Allentown, PA - On Saturday, Cedar Crest was especially excited to play in limited edition pink uniforms in honor of the Athletic Department's "Think Pink Day" to promote breast cancer awareness, but in the end Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Rosemont College stole the show with a 4-2 victory.
The Falcons were forced to play catch-up after allowing the Ravens two quick goals in the opening 12 minutes. Rosemont spent the majority of the half on the offensive end, until the always-reliable
Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) scored in the 35th minute on a feed from
Samantha Huey (Nutley, NJ/Nutley). At the break, the score remained 2-1.
Unfortunately, the second half was more of the same. The Ravens controlled the ball and added two more goals to take a 4-1 lead. The Falcons mounted a spirited attack late in the game that resulted in a
Jess LeBel (Millis, MA/Millis) goal from
Mattie Hallquist (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) in the final minute, leading to the 4-2 final.
The Ravens had 20 shots on goal to the Falcons four.
Daniella Mendez (Cedar Grove, NJ/Montclair Kimberly Academy) had 16 saves in the game.
With the loss, Cedar Crest is now 5-10-1 overall and 2-5 in the CSAC, and Rosemont improves to 8-5 and 5-4 in the CSAC. The Falcons will visit Centenary College for a CSAC game on Tuesday, October 16th, at 4:00 PM.
