Box Score

Allentown, PA - At home before a large, appreciative, and mostly black-clad crowd, Cedar Crest powered past Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Notre Dame of Maryland University for their fourth conference win of the season. The final score was 66-39.

On hand to celebrate the career of Lizzy Sunderhaus (Hamilton, OH/Stephen T. Badin), the team's senior, and senior cheerleaders Marie Polzella and Sarah Gilmore was a large family contingent from Ohio and quite a few basketball alums who made the pilgrimage back to their alma mater.

The outcome was never really in doubt as the Falcons never trailed after their first basket, then methodically built their lead to a 38-17 halftime score. Sunderhaus had 16 first-half points on 7-for-12 shooting, and sophomore Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr) had 13 points, going 6-for-14, and nine boards.

The second half was a little more even, though Cedar Crest still outscored the Gators 28-22. Junior Megan DeMutis (Norristown, PA/Kennedy-Kenrick Catholic) had 10 in the second half for a total of 15 including four buckets from beyond the arc. Sunderhaus added 10 more to finish as the leading scorer with 26 points. She also had 10 rebounds.

Notre Dame's Sasha Vassel and India Scott both finished with 14 points.

With the win, Cedar Crest climbs to 7-17 on the season and 4-11 in the CSAC. Notre Dame remains winless. Next up, the Falcons will host Keystone College on Wednesday, February 15th, at 7:00 PM. The game will the final contest of the season, and all attendees are asked to wear pink to promote breast cancer awareness.
