Phoenixville, PA - Cedar Crest ran their win streak up to three on Wednesday with a 3-2 non-conference road win at Valley Forge Christian College.
Whatever sparked the recent offensive output from freshman Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) continued to blaze, as Long scored two goals in the first half to give the Falcons a 2-1 halftime edge. The second goal was assisted by sophomore Olga Cauble (Concord, NH/Concord), a welcome return to the lineup after injury.
Also catching the scoring bug was freshman Gredia Sanchez (Yonkers, NY/Yonkers), who found the back of the net for her first career goal in the 75th minute of play. Cedar Crest allowed another goal with just over 10 minutes to play, but held on for the 3-2 win. Daniella Mendez (Cedar Grove, NJ/Montclair Kimberly Academy) had five saves.
Long had five of the team's nine shots on goal, and has five goals over the past three games after the team was held scoreless in its first four games of the season.
With the win, Cedar Crest improves to 3-4 overall and is still 0-0 in the CSAC. Valley Forge is still searching for their first win after eight games. The Falcons will bring their winning streak into a rescheduled CSAC game at home against Keystone College on Thursday, September 20th, at 4:00 PM.
