Aston, PA - Cedar Crest rebounded from an unsightly loss at Arcadia to play well in their Colonial States Athletic Conference Opener at Neumann. Unfortunately, they came up just short in the 5-3 loss.
The Falcons had a strong first half, opening up a 2-1 lead with an unassisted goal by Lauren Salge (Robbinsville, NJ/Allentown) and a penalty corner goal from Rebecca Lowe assisted by Brittany Hartman (Myerstown, PA/Eastern Lebanon County) with just under ten minutes to the break. But a mental lapse on defense allowed the Knights to score the tying goal just seconds before halftime to go in tied 2-2.
In the second half, a letdown in defensive pressure allowed Neumann to scored three more goals for their final total of five, despite a 14-save effort from Lindsay Harrison (Hanover, PA/Littlestown) and an outstanding defensive save by Jessica Millar (Dover, DE/Polytech).
Lowe added a second penalty corner goal at the end of the second half to make the final score 5-3. Lowe had an outstanding game all over the field.
With the loss, the Falcons now have a 5-5 record and are 0-1 in the CSAC. Neumann is now 1-6 and 1-0 in the conference. The Falcons will try to regroup at home with a non-conference game against Bryn Mawr College on Tuesday, September 54th, at 4:00 PM.
