Clarks Summit, PA – On the road against Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Baptist Bible College, Cedar Crest fell to the Defenders by a score of 3-1.
The much deeper Baptist Bible squad wore the Falcons down, subbing liberally and scoring two goals in the first half while holding Cedar Crest scoreless. The Defenders would add a third goal early in the second half to put the game out of reach. All three goals were the result of defensive lapses by the Falcons - otherwise, Cedar Crest did a good job possessing the ball and finding shots on goal, but couldn't capitalize on their chances. The Falcons were able to narrowly avoid the shutout when freshman Gredia Sanchez (Yonkers, NY/Yonkers) found the back of the net from just inside the 18 yard box on a beautiful Mattie Hallquist (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) pass through two BBC defenders.
Althought Cedar Crest keeper Daniella Mendez (Cedar Grove, NJ/Montclair Kimberly Academy) had 13 saves in a complete game, Baptist Bible outshot the Falcons 16-6.
With the conference loss, the Falcons are now 4-6 overall and 1-2 in the CSAC. The Defenders improve to 2-4-1 and 1-1 in conference. On Thursday, September 27th, Cedar Crest will try to regroup on a trip to Morristown, NJ, for a non-conference matchup against College of St. Elizabeth at 3:00 PM.
