Allentown, PA - The Monarchs of King's College came to town on Thursday and made short work of the Falcons in a non-conference game. The Middle Atlantic Conference opponents left with a 6-0 victory on their resume that brought Cedar Crest's winless streak to five after a promising 3-0 start to the season.
King's scored their first goal early in the game, and though they outshot the Falcons 12-1 in the first half, the Monarchs clung to a slim 2-0 lead at halftime. But the fresh legs of the much deeper King's squad seemed to take their toll on Cedar Crest, especially in the second half. King's' Abby McManus scored just 44 seconds into the second half and then Monarchs added three more goals in a ten-minute span midway through the second period to put the game out of reach.
Senior goalie Lindsay Harrison (Hanover, PA/Littlestown) had six saves in just over 45 minutes in goal, while freshman Kaitlyn Brendlinger (Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.) had four saves in almost 25 minutes. Junior Jen Harbison (Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) had two defensive saves.
Cedar Crest is now 3-5 overall on the season and 0-1 in the CSAC. King's improves to 7-3 and is 1-0 in the MAC. Next, on Saturday, September 29th, the Falcons travel to Immaculata for a conference game at 1:00 PM.
