Box Score Baltimore, Md (January 5, 2013) After a long holiday break, Cedar Crest hit the hardwood this afternoon against CSAC foe Notre Dame of Maryland University. In a game that saw three lead changes and two ties, the Gators held on to earn their first win of the season and conference win a 38-34 decision over the Falcons.
Led by junior
Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr) who tallied a team high 18 points, eight rebounds and four steals. Teammate sophomore,
Kayleigh Keggan (Blairstown, NJ/Belvidere) snatched career high 12 rebounds. Notre Dame was led by Kamelya Medina and Lauren Santi with 19 and 10 points respectively. Shaun-De Jones recorded game high 14 rebounds for the Gators.
In the first 8:13 in the first half, Cedar Crest ran out to a 13-2 lead, which was short lived. To end the half, Notre Dame outscored the Crest 14-0 over the remaining 11:47 to take a 14-13 half time advantage.
The second half featured Notre Dame taking five and seven point leads, only to see Cedar Crest either tie or take the lead. With 1:04 remaining, the Falcons knotted the score at 34-34, in the waning moments of the game; the Gators converted a couple of layups to seal the victory.
