Box Score Allentown, PA
In their second conference game, the Cedar Crest Falcons were unable to secure their first conference win for the season as they fell to Cabrini College 8-1.
The Cavaliers opened up scoring early in the game when they were able to make use of a good cross from the right side of the field. Their crosses were their strength as they were able to slip two more , in the 23rd and 33rd minute before the half.
The Falcons must have had an inspiring chat with coaches Sarah Wolcott and Gabby Lopez as they came out enthusiastic and ready for some tight competition in the second half. With some tactical changes, the Falcons were able to get more shots and opportunities, with some almost slipping by the very strong Cavaliers goalkeeper. However the Falcons let two more goals slip by goalkeeper Kristina Brandveen (Williamsburg,VA/Warhill High School), taking the score to 5-0. Sophomore Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) put her name on the scoreboard as she managed to neatly place a volley pass the Cavaliers keeper in the 55th minute. The cavaliers were able to go deep in their bench to bring fresh legs out to finish the game, as they came out blazing scoring three more in the 59th, 60th, and 73rd minutes to end the game at 8-1.
Head Coach, Sarah Wolcott said after the game "We are playing with a lot of injuries right now, so I'm proud of the girls for gutting this game out. I thought we played well in the second half. Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) came up big and scored a really nice goal for us. We are at the point where we need to string together two halves of good, hard work."
Falcons goalkeeper, Kristina Brandveen (Williamsburg,VA/Warhill High School) ended the game with 11 saves, and the team had 9 shots.
The Falcons fall to 2-7-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the CSAC and will take on Centenary College at home on Thursday at 4pm
