Langhorne, PA

The Cedar Crest Falcons ended their 2013 Fall season on the road against the Cairn University Highlanders.

Playing Cairn for the second time this season; the Falcons were now on the road versus the Highlanders looking to redeem themselves from their previous loss. The Falcons were looking to finish their season on a high note.

The first half was a tough one for the Falcons, as they couldn't get adjusted to the Highlander attack. The Falcons would let up a goal early on in the game when an opposing player made a good run in the Cedar Crest box, and neatly place  it pass goalkeeper, Kristina Brandveen (Williamsburg,VA/Warhill High School) in the 3rd minute. The Falcons quickly huddled, trying to encourage regaining focus. However another similar mistake would place them another goal behind just 7 minutes later, as the backline was caught flat, and a highlander player took advantage of this and struck the ball pass goalkeeper, Brandveen. The Falcons lifted their heads, and fought hard to lessen the goal difference but unfortunately, conceded another goal in the 28th minute before the half ended.

The second half would be much different for the Falcons, as they made some changes to the formation , and possessed the ball much more than in the first half. Many opportunities to score was also a theme for the Falcons as striker, Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh), defender, Shaquira Mcottry, and midfielder, Allison Rittle (Fredericksburg, PA/Northern Lebanon) displayed their ability by speeding by players and shooting at the net. Goalkeeper, Kristina Brandveen (Williamsburg,VA/Warhill High School) arguably had one of her best games for  the season, as she made some very difficult saves to keep the Falcons from allowing more goals in the net. Unfortunately the hard-work and dedication put into the second half wasn't enough for a win, as the Highlanders took the game with their three first half goals.

After the game, coach Sarah Wolcott said "We played a great second half, but we, unfortunately came out flat in the first and conceded some preventable goals. After halftime we adjusted really well and played extremely hard. Kristina Brandveen (Williamsburg,VA/Warhill High School) had a great game today. She came off her line hard and confidently and made some huge 1v1 saves. We were hoping for a W today, but I'm happy with the note we ended on. We'll continue to work hard this off-season, and I think we'll place a major focus on finishing."

With the loss the Falcons end their season with an overall record of 3-15-0, and 1-10 in CSAC play.
