Box Score

Rosemont,PA

The Cedar Crest Falcons were unable to snag their first conference win as they traveled to Rosemont last Saturday afternoon in Rosemont,Pa.

Despite their valiant effort, the Falcons were unable to stop the strong Rosemont team. The Ravens would start off scoring in the 2nd minute of the game, due to a miscommunication in defense, the Ravens player took advantage of this and slotted one by goalkeeper Kristina Brandveen (Williamsburg,VA/Warhill High School). The Falcons then picked up their game and had some opportunities going forward but the Ravens offensive line was crafty and dribbled through the defense to slot another one home to make it 2-0 shortly after the first.

A tight call from the referee resulted in a penalty kick in the 14th minute, but goalkeeper Kristina Brandveen (Williamsburg,VA/Warhill High School) came up big and saved not only the penalty strike, but also the rebound shot from the Rosemont player. This got the Falcons revved up, as they quickly got up the field and had a great opportunity from Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) that barely missed the goal. The Ravens would then go on to score in the 16th and 27th minute before the half.

Undeterred by the 4-0 deficit, the Falcons came out blazing at the beginning of the second half. The Cedar Crest team, was now possessing the ball more and getting some more scoring opportunities. Allison Rittle (Fredericksburg, PA/Northern Lebanon) almost got her name on the scoring sheet when she shot a ball from the 18 yard box that barely slid wide of the goal. Additionally, Long almost tallied another goal as she had a break away from the half way line, but the Ravens defensive player recovered back to make a great tackle to win the ball.

The Ravens were able to slip three more by goalkeeper Brandveen before the game ended. The game ended at 7-0 in favor of Rosemont College.

After the game, coach Sarah Wolcott said "I don't think the score was indicative of how we played. We did a good job working together and working for one another. Unfortunately, sometimes small mistakes can cost you and  Rosemont had some talented players who took advantage and capitalized on our mistakes. All in all, I'm proud of the work we put in today. We had a lot of players gutting out injuries, so it was nice to see them working hard despite that. All I ask for the girls to give; is everything they have for 90 minutes, and we did that today."

The falcons fall to a 2-9-0 overall record and 0-4-0 in the CSAC and will be at home on Tuesday October 8th to play Immaculata University at 4pm.
