The Cedar Crest Field Hockey team begins their Colonial States Athletic Conference play by traveling to Cabrini College to battle against the Cavaliers. As this game marks the half way point in the 2013 season, the Falcons brought an aggressive game filled with well controlled ball handling and exciting tackles to strip the ball away from the sticks of the Cabrini players. The game would end 0-8 as the final score in favor of the Cabrini Cavaliers.

The Falcons started the game with an intensity that surely warmed up the crowd. Freshman Samantha VanBeers (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) did an excellent job of clearing the ball out of the defensive circle. Emily Rodenberger (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) had incredible ball handling skill up the Cabrini field which resulted in a shot on goal at 8:27 as a response to Cabrini's third goal by Erin McLaughlin. An impressive defensive save that left fans in awe was executed by Rachel Stump (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood) at 9:02. The Falcons had one offensive penalty corner chance during the first half of regulation play, but the half would end 0-5 in favor of the Cavaliers.

With renewed intensity, the Falcons still played strong and united. The Falcons picked up four offensive penalty corner chances during the second half. Two more shots on goal were posted, one by Rodenberger and the other by Jessica Sanbeg (Effort, PA/Pleasant Valley). Sophomore Goalkeeper Kaitlyn Bredlinger out-saved Cabrini Goalkeepers by 7 points and tallied 10 saves.

Cedar Crest drops 0-1 in conference with 0-10 overall while Cabrini College improves 5-6 overall. Up next, the Falcons will play at home against the Wilson College Phoenix on Thursday, October 10th at 4:00pm.
