In their season opener at the 2nd Annual Women's College Basketball Tip Off Tournament hosted by Bryn Mawr College, four Falcons scored in double digits as Cedar Crest won the  matinee 65-32.  Cedar Crest will play the College of New Rochelle who defeated Notre Dame of Maryland University 83-46 in the second game.

Junior, Breonna Lewis (Abingdon, MD/Sovereign Grace Homeschool) led all scorers with 16 points, shooting 7-14 from the field and grabbed 5 rebounds. Senior,Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr) totaled 14 points, making 6-12 from the field, added 4 steals and 6 rebounds.  Freshman, Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) set career highs in points with 11, 3-6 from the field, tallied 4 rebounds and 4 steals.  Sophomore, Kayleigh Keggan (Blairstown, NJ/Belvidere) chipped in 10 points, shooting a team best 4-6 from the foul line and 5 rebounds.  Though she didn't light up the scoreboard, but junior Shaquira McCottry (Philadelphia, PA/Girard College) contributed 2 points, had 4 steals and dished out a game high 7 assists.

Cedar Crest jumped out to 2-0 lead 1:52 into the game with a jumper by junior, DeJanet Lantion (Silver Spring, MD/John F. Kennedy). From there the Falcons never looked back.  Bryn Mawr tried to climb back into the game, with a lay-up from senior Nicolette Parmese to cut the Cedar Crest lead to three at 10-7 at the 11:08 mark.  For the remainder of the half, the Falcons outscored the Owls 17-8, to take a 27-15 lead into half time.  "We played well," said Falcon Head Coach Ty Taylor, "it wasn't always pretty nor perfect; but for what we went through these last three weeks, it is nice to our players put everything behind them and play unselfishly and together."

To start the second half, Cedar Crest scored 8 straight points to build their lead to 35-15, before Bryn Mawr answered with 17:01 remaining in the second stanza.  The Falcons held the Owls scoreless in the final 3:42, outscoring them 7-0 for the final result 65-32.

"I honestly wasn't sure what to expect from this team today," exclaimed Taylor, "we've only had a few days of practice we everyone available to us, so this was good to see."  With seven new players to the roster, team chemistry was a concern coming into the season.  The balanced offensive attack and well as an all-out team defensive effort kept the Falcons in the lead.  Defensively the Falcons forced the Owls into 41 turnovers and 27% shooting for the game.

"This team played great defensively, that is something that I didn't expect," said Taylor, "our biggest questions were; who is going to score and can we stop people?  New Rochelle is a much different team than Bryn Mawr.  They present a different set of challenges we need to deal with."

The Falcons will face the College of New Rochelle at 3:00 p.m. in the tournament championship game at Bryn Mawr College; while Bryn Mawr will face Notre Dame of Maryland University at 1:00 p.m. in the consolation game.
