Looking to join an elite group of women,
Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr) came into yesterday's game with something to prove. Â Held to just seven points in her previous game, Wehry was putting alot of pressure on herself. Â "She's shown leadership all season" said Coach
Ty Taylor, "Going into yesterday's game I expected the same type of leadership we've seen all season."
Entering the game with 997 career points Wehry sat just three points shy. Â After converting a shot from the field she would be fouled, then the moment would happen. Â On her next free throw shot she would step into Cedar Crest College History. Â "She is the fourth player since 2010 to score 1,000 career points at Cedar Crest" said Coach Taylor "I feel great for her as do all of her teammates and I think that speaks volumes about our team and program."
Wehry joins the likes of M. Porzio, Gano, Gillespie, Ensley, Tinucci, C. Porzio, Oakes, Wallower and Sunderhaus. Â Whery also shares the same number as Courtney Porzio who netted her 1,000th point in 2005 and Missy Porzio who collected her 1,000th point in 1990.
Wehry didn't stop at 1,000 however, she would finish with a team high 14 points.
The Falcons would fall eventually to the Cyclones 75-32 to fall to 1-8 overall and 0-3 in the CSAC. Â The Falcons also wrap up their games in the first semester with the loss and will play again when they start the new year on the road as they travel to Roanoke, VA to take on Hollins University on January 4th.
