It was quoted "SNOPENING DAY" by those in attendance, and the Snow wasn't the only thing going on Saturday afternoon.  The Cedar Crest College Softball team would host Immaculata for their 2013 Home Opener.

The Falcons would open up the game falling behind quickly 2-0 after early errors by the infield, and would then go 1-2-3 in the bottom of the first.  All would then be quite with Natalia Dial (Kannapolis, PA/Jesse C. Carson) pitching well despite the cold until the bottom of the 3rd inning.

Paige VanderMeer would force a lead off walk, after Sam Griffiths would strike out, Jen Hallowell would force the second walk of the inning and put two on with one out.  Eventually Shannon Wenner (Drums, PA/MMI Preparatory) would walk and the Falcons would have the bases loaded with 2 outs and Dial coming to the plate.  Dial would work the count in her favor, and on a 2-1 pitch, line a shot to the second baseman who would make a fantastic play to end the Falcons threat in the 3rd.

After that push it would be all Mighty Macs.  The Macs would put together 5 runs on 4 hits before the 4th would come to an end.  The Falcons would put themselves on the board with an RBI by VanderMeer who would plate Aly Mason for the teams only run.

After the fifth inning, the game would be called due to snow, and game 2 will be PPD to a later date.  The Falcons fall to 0-3 overall while Immaculata improves to 6-5.  Cedar Crest will next face Penn State Abington in double header action on the 19th with game 1 set to start at 3:00 PM.
