Box Score

Allentown, PA

The Falcons were unable to secure a win today, as they fell to the Valley Forge Christian College, Patriots 2-1.

The first half was a back and forth battle between the Falcons and the Patriots, with the Falcons maintaining most of the possession and out shooting the visiting team 16-2. However the Patriots were able to use one of those opportunities to score past, Junior goalkeeper Krysten Gillan (Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade H.S.). The Falcons did not make the scoreboard in the first half.

The second half was much like the first, with the Falcons maintaining most of the possession, and with some exciting opportunities from leading goal scorer Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh), however the Falcons weren't able to score until they went down 2-0 off of a corner from the Patriots which just slipped by the defense and goalkeeper. At 2-0 down the Falcons were forced to play catch-up, and lessened the Patriots lead, when Sophomore, Long ran onto a ball and shot it by the Patriot's goalkeeper. The lone goal wasn't enough as the game ended with the Patriot's leading 2-1.

For the Falcons, Allison Rittle (Fredericksburg, PA/Northern Lebanon) finished with six shots, three of them on goal, while freshman Breonna Lewis (Abingdon, MD/Sovereign Grace Homeschool) collected four shots.  Goalie Krysten Gillan (Maple Shade, NJ/Maple Shade H.S.) played 90 minutes in the goal and finished with two saves on the day.

The Falcons outshot the Patriots 27-4 through out the game.

With the loss, the Falcons fall to a 1-4 overall record. The Falcons return to the pitch on Wednesday 19th September when they host The College of St,Elizabeth Eagles at 4pm.
