Falcons Open Up Conference Play in 2014

1/11/2014 8:34:00 PM

Box Score

Allentown, PA

Gwynedd Mercy placed three players in double figures in addition to having 10 other Griffins score, to down the Falcons 93-45 in CSAC action.  Senior, Amber Wehry (Klingerstown, PA/Tri-Valley Jr/Sr), led Cedar Crest with 17 points and added 7 rebounds.

It was the tale of two halves, at least in the first half.  A game that was tightly contested where both team traded baskets until Cedar Crest committed and avalanche of turnovers in the final 11 minutes of the first half that game the Griffins a 40-14 half time lead.  For the game, Cedar Crest committed a season high thirty-three miscues that led to 41 Gwynedd Mercy points.

In the second half, Wehry scored 15 of her 17 points and teammate DeJanet Lantion (Silver Spring, MD/John F. Kennedy), added 10 points, eight in the second half.  Cedar Crest doubled their first half point total, but it was too little too late.

Breonna Lewis (Abingdon, MD/Sovereign Grace Homeschool), added seven points and had a game high 11 rebounds, seven defensive.

Next up for the Falcons are the Highlanders of Cairn University on Monday, January 13 at 7 p.m. at Lees Hall Gymnasium on "Back to School Night".  The Falcons now 1-11 overall and 0-5 in CSAC will look to bounce back against a hungry 0-8 overall and 0-4 CSAC, Highlander squad .
