Falcons Host Spirit Day as Field Hockey Host Moravian

9/17/2014 5:29:00 PM

Box Score

Allentown, PA

Hosting the first Cedar Crest College Spirit Day on a game day, the Cedar Crest College Field Hockey team welcomed the Moravian Hounds to town for a valley showdown.  The hounds would waste no time getting on the board twice in the first half despite the Falcons defense led by Kelsey Ward (Philadelphia, PA/Franklin Towne Charter) limiting the hounds to just 5 shots on goal in the first half.  The second half would not be quite the same for the Falcons as the hounds found the back of the goal five times in the second half to take control with what would be the final score at 7-0.

For the Falcons, Sophomore Rachel Stump (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood) collected two more defensive saves and tied Jessica Millar for the all time career lead in defensive saves.  Stumps two saves were also her second consecutive game and third of the season with at least two.  Emily Rodenberger (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) continued to pound the inside of the hounds defenive accounting for all the Falcons shots in tonight's game.

Selena Contreras (Catasauqua, PA/Catasauqua) also played out of position tonight as she would step in for freshman Andi Dargis (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) for 15:39 and finish with her first career save while allowing only two goals.

The Falcons will be off until September 27th when they travel to Immaculata for their conference opener.
