Soccer Opens Conference Play with Showdown at Cabrini

Box Score Radnor, PA - The Cedar Crest Falcons dropped their CSAC opener today as they came up against conference powerhouse Cabrini.

The Falcons started the game off strong and showed some true moments of excellence, but ye Cavaliers had another plan for the day as they struck home early in the first half in the 4th minute of play. The Falcons picked their game up again, but had to revisit their lineup in the 18th minute when, Senior forward Denyell Spingola (East Haddam, CT/Nathan Hale-Ray) suffered an injury that ruled her out for the rest of the game. The Cavaliers would take advantage of this as they scored soon after in the 21st,25th,26th, and 32nd minute to finish the half at 5-0. Freshman goalkeeper, Nalani Velasquez (Howell, NJ/Howell) would finish the half with 10 saves.

The Falcons would pick their heads up in the second half and play a much stronger defensive and attacking game, with two opportunities coming off of the foot of Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh). However, the Falcons were unable to net any of these opportunities. The Cavaliers would go on to score in the 48th minute, to close the game out at 6-0.

With the loss, the Falcons fall to a record of 2-5-1 overall and 0-1 in CSAC play.
