10/24/2015 6:29:00 PM

Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa.---The Cedar Crest College field hockey team fell against Neumann University, 9-1, in Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Senior Day, Saturday afternoon.

"The girls played their hearts out today," commented Head Coach Kellina Yarrish. "Desiree did an amazing job in goal for her first time out on the field and every player worked extremely hard till the final whistle. It wasn't the result we hoped for our seniors but I was quite proud at the effort that was put out on the field today."

In the first half the Falcons had shots from senior forward Emily Rodenberger (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) right away making the goalkeeper make the save as junior forward Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) followed up with her own shot and that was blocked. In the 17th minute, Osley maneuvered her way down the field again to take another shot but would be blocked again. Rodenberger would also have a shot blocked in the 19th and again in the final minute of the first half. With the teams heading to halftime the Falcons would be at a 3-0 deficit.

In the second half, Rodenberger was blocked in the 50th minute as Stump followed up her shot that missed just wide. In the 65th minute Rodenberger forced her way through the defense to take a clear shot that hit the lower left corner of the cage.

The field hockey team returns to action on Tuesday, October, 27 at 4:00 p.m. as they host Immaculata University in Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
