Field Hockey Drops Road Match to Finish Season

La PLUME, Pa.---The Cedar Crest College field hockey team played in their final match of the 2015 at fellow Colonial States Athletic Conference school Keystone College with a final score of 8-1.

"I am proud of the way the girls have played all season," commented Head Coach Kellina Yarrish. "They adapted really well to having low numbers and overcoming injuries. Today was bittersweet as I finished my first year as a head coach, having played and coached at Keystone it brought everything full circle."

Senior forward Emily Rodenberger (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) got the first shot of the half for the Falcons in the 13th minute as the goalkeeper made the save. Rodenberger would have another chance after a penalty corner by junior midfielder Priscilla Howell (Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg) that missed wide but received another penalty corner. After another corner by Howell, junior midfielder Samantha VanBeers (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) who finished a loose ball in the 18th minute to get the Black and Yellow on the board.

In the second half the Giants defensive was precise making defensive saves to hold the lead, the first stopping Rodenberger in the 36th minute and again in the 36th minute off of a penalty corner. The 47th minute would see Rodenberger would be on the end of another corner from Howell that was stopped by another defensive save and then missed wide. Junior midfielder Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) took her shot that another defender stopped. Rodenberger ripped a shot this time the goalkeeper found her way between her and the goal.

Freshman goalkeeper Desiree Lewis (Hazelton, Pa./Hazelton Area Academy of Sciences) finished with eight saves.
