Soccer Finishes 2015 Season Against Centenary

ALLENTOWN, Pa.--- The Cedar Crest College soccer team fell 3-0 in the final game of the 2015 season against conference opponent Centenary College on Thursday afternoon.

"I was really proud of the heart we showed today," commented Head Coach Sarah Wolcott. "Centenary is a great, hardworking team, and we kept working with them until the final whistle blew. We've made a lot of progress since I started here, and today is a good measure of that. I was so happy to see such great effort especially from our two seniors, Courtney and Kristen."

The Falcons held the Cyclones to one goal before halftime while freshman goalkeeper Shelby Szoke (White Haven, Pa./Crestwood High School) collected seven saves. The second half saw six shots by the Black and Yellow, the first freshman Ashley Heffelfinger. Senior forward Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) would set the play up, running down the right flank of the field and releasing a cross that met Heffelfinger inside the six but slightly off centered from the goal with her shot hitting the inside part of the post and bouncing back into play.

Junior midfielder Allison Rittle (Fredericksburg, PA/Northern Lebanon) and Long would have back-to-back shots that went just high with in a minute time frame. Sophomore defender Caitlyn Mann (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) had a shot in the 82nd minute that the goalkeeper saved. Long fired the final shot for the Falcons in the 88th minute that the keeper saved.
