Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa.---The Cedar Crest College soccer team opened its 2015 season with a 8-1 victory over the University of Valley Forge on Tuesday afternoon. Senior forward Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) began her final season with four goals to take the lead of points in a career at Cedar Crest.

"We had a good first showing," stated Head Coach Sarah Wolcott. "I think we are ahead of where we were last year. This is a great jumping off point. It was hot, but we worked hard and the result showed it. Courtney more than deserved this honor. She's the athlete that asks you how high when you tell her to jump. She is a great leader both on and off the field and two of her four goals today were in the top 10 most beautiful I have ever seen."

In the seventh minute, freshman midfielder Kassandra Miller (Fallington, Pa./Pensbury Senior High School) finished a cross within the six yard line from sophomore midfielder Jackalyn Beckett (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) to lower right corner of the goal to put the Falcons on the board. Long would score her first goal in the 30th minute off a cross from freshman midfielder Kayla Daniels (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood High School) that she buried into the lower right corner. Daniels would finish off the first half with her first collegiate goal with just seconds left in the half, she finished a ball from freshman forward Sarafina Woolridge-Burns (Devonshire, Bermuda/Warwick Academy/St. Johnsbury Academy) to the lower left side for a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.

In the second half, Beckett notched her own goal just before the 57th minute after following up her own blocked shot to put it in the back of the net. Miller would score unassisted in the 59th minute. Long would score back-to-back goals within four minutes. Her first goal came of a cross from junior midfielder Allison Rittle (Fredericksburg, PA/Northern Lebanon) while the second was a cross from Miller.

The Patriot scored in the 71st minute to make it a 7-1 game, but Long would finish her fourth goal of the match in the 79th minute to give her a total of 79 career points at Cedar Crest.

The Falcons return to action on Saturday, September 5 at 1:00 p.m. as they take on non-conference Hood College.
