Box Score GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College soccer team traveled to Gwynedd Mercy College in the teams first Colonial States Athletic Conference match they fell 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
"It was a tough game today," commented Head Coach
Sarah Wolcott. "We worked hard and just couldn't quite connect in the attacking third. Gwynedd is a good team who worked for 90 minutes. I was happy with our efforts."
The Falcons faced a strong offensive Gryphons as the defense held the fought off 14 shots with seven on net, allowing two goals before halftime with the only offensive action coming off a corner in the 33
rd minute by junior midfielder
Allison Rittle (Fredericksburg, PA/Northern Lebanon). Freshman
Shelby Szoke (White Haven, Pa./Crestwood High School) made four saves.
In the second half Cedar Crest had another corner which was taken by sophomore defender
Caitlyn Mann (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) who found junior midfielder
Kim Incontrera (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner) who missed just right.
Szoke made another four saves for the Falcons ending the match with a total of eight.
The Cedar Crest soccer team has its next game on Wednesday, September 23 at 4:00 p.m. as they play their first home Colonial States Athletic Conference game.
