Box Score MADISON, N.J.--- The Cedar Crest College field hockey team opened the 2015 season against Drew University with a 13-2 loss Wednesday night in Madison, N.J. in a non-conference match-up.
"We started out really strong with great momentum," commented Head Coach
Kellina Yarrish. "We did some things really well, and saw some areas in need of improvement. While we communicated efficiently we struggled maintaining key players in the middle that moving forward to this weekend we hope to make the adjustments needed."
The Falcons would score in the third minute to tie the game 1-1 with a goal by junior midfielder
Priscilla Howell (Stewartsville, N.J.) off the rebound shot of junior forward
Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School). The Rangers would head into halftime with a 6-1 lead over Cedar Crest.
Senior forward
Alexis Malone (Jamaica, NY/Queens Gateway to Health Secondary School) would get a shot off in the 55
th minute that was saved. Junior midfielder
Samantha VanBeers (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) would also get a shot off for the Falcons in the 60
th minute that the goalkeeper saved. In the 61
st minute senior forward
Emily Rodenberger (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen) notched her first goal of the season with a shot inside the right side of the circle to the far post.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Andi Dargis (East Hampton, NY/East Hampton) had nine saves, while junior defender
Rachel Stump (Fleetwood, PA/Fleetwood) had one defensive save.
Cedar Crest travels to Bethany, West Virginia for a tournament at Bethany College this Friday, September 4 with the start time slated for 7:30 p.m.
