Box Score BALTIMORE, Md.---The Cedar Crest College soccer team traveled to Baltimore Maryland to face Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Notre Dame of Maryland University where the Gators came back in the second half to defeat the Falcons 2-1 Saturday afternoon.
"We didn't come out with the performance I was hoping for," stated Head Coach
Sarah Wolcott. "Notre Dame of Maryland did a good job of possessing the ball today and we were unable to regain control of the play to dictate the game."
In the first half the Falcons came with a strong offensive presence as senior forward
Courtney Long fired of her first shot at 1:40 that was saved by the goalkeeper. Sophomore midfielder
Ashely Heffelfinger took a shot of a corner kick by sophomore midfielder
Kassandra Miller that was saved by the goalkeeper. As the Falcons were awarded another corner kick taken again by
Miller who connected with defender
Kristen Spencer (Bangor, PA/Pen Argyl Area) for the first goal of the game.
In the second half, the Falcons got three shots off by
Long, a header off a corner by
Spencer and another shot by
Heffelfinger. The Gators scored in the 60
th minute to tie the game and would score eight minutes later for the second and winning goal.
The Falcons next match is Tuesday, September 29 at Keystone College at 4:00 p.m. in another Colonial States Athletic Conference action.
