Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa.--- The Cedar Crest College field hockey team took on Goucher College Wednesday afternoon in their final
non-conference match with a final score of 7-1 as they look to open their conference schedule this weekend.
"The girls played well despite working through injuries and playing down this game,"commented Head Coach
Kellina Yarrish. "I was proud to see each player step up in different roles and work hard to get the ball in the back of the net. I was happy to see everyone play to the final minute and I am excited to see what the conference has in hold for us this year."
In the first half the Gophers jumped out to an early 3-0 within the first six minutes of the game. Freshman midfielder
Makenzie Perles (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) had a defensive save but despite her and the teams best efforts they couldn't hold off the Goucher attack as they held a 5-0 lead at halftime. Junior midfielder
Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) had the lone shot for the Falcons in the half.
In the second half the junior midfielder
Priscilla Howell (Stewartsville, N.J./Phillipsburg) took a shot that was saved by the goalkeeper to follow up with a goal off of a pass by senior forward
Emily Rodenberger (Pennsburg, PA/Upper Perkiomen). Looking to cut the lead
Rodenberger fired another shot but the goalkeeper was there in time to make the save. Senior
Viviana Samite made a defensive save in the final minutes as the Gophers took the win, 7-1.
The next game for the Falcons is Saturday, October 3 at 11:00 at home during Fall Family Weekend against Colonial States Athletic Conference opponent Immaculata University.
