Box Score MORRISTOWN, N.J.---The Cedar Crest College soccer team earned its first shutout of the season as they defeated non-conference College of Saint Elizabeth, 4-0 on Monday afternoon.
"We had some difficulty clicking, but I think that is a sign of a good team when you don't play your best and can still dig out a win," stated Head Coach
Sarah Wolcott. "College of Saint Elizabeth worked hard and made us fight until the final whistle."
The Falcons took the lead six minutes into the game as senior forward
Courtney Long (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) found the back of the net for the first time off a ball from sophomore midfielder
Tara Irvin (Chalfont, Pa. /Central Bucks).
Long would find her way into the box to finish her second goal of the day about six minutes later as sophomore midfielder
Jackalyn Beckett (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) would offer the assist. Freshman midfielder
Kassandra Miller (Fallington, Pa./Pensbury Senior High School) earned her third goal of the year when she followed up a shot from
Beckett that hit the post to set up the
Miller to give Cedar Crest a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
The Black and Gold got off 15 shots in the second half, but only one found the back of the net by
Long for a hat trick and her seventh goal of the season, as freshman midfielder
Kayla Daniels (Fleetwood, Pa./Fleetwood High School) put a ball in around the 74
th minute for the lone goal of the second half.

Shelby Szoke (White Haven, Pa./Crestwood High School) earned her first collegiate career shutout making two saves in the match.
The Falcons next match is Wednesday, September 9 at 4:00 p.m. when the welcome New Jersey City University.
