Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. --- The Cedar Crest College soccer team tied in over-time, 2-2, with the Cairn University Highlanders on Saturday afternoon in the teams final home game as they honored their two seniors.
Cedar Crest took the early lead 1-0 with a goal by senior
Allison Rittle (Fredericksburg, PA/Northern Lebanon) within the first six minutes of play. Freshman
Kelsey Kehm (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley ) and
Rittle both had shots that were saved by the Highlanders' goalie.
Rittle took her third shot of the game in the 24
th minute, missing just wide of the cage. Cairn looked to put themselves on the board and scored in the 34
th minute, tying the score 1-1.
Rittle shot again, but her attempt was saved by the Cairn keeper.
In the second half,
Rittle was first to shoot, but missed wide of the net. Off of a corner kick, freshman
Kelsey Kehm (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley ) looked to capitalize, but her shot was saved by Cairn's keeper. Junior
Kari Vanderslice (Clementon, NJ/Highland Regional) looked to score off of the rebounded save, heading it into the Highlander keeper. In the 63
rd minute of play,
Kehm added one on the board for the Falcons, with an assist by junior
Katia Olsen (Edison, NJ/J.P. Stevens). After a few shot attempts, Cairn tied the score again 2-2, ending regulation time.
The Falcons came out strong in over-time with juniors
KiraRose Olsen (Edison, NJ/J.P. Stevens) and
Katia Olsen (Edison, NJ/J.P. Stevens) both shooting just wide of the goal.
Rittle looked to score her second goal of the game, but her attempt was stopped by Cairn goalie. After over-time play finished, the score remained 2-2.
The Falcons play next at fellow CSAC member Cetenary College on October 19 at 4:00 PM.
