Box Score

ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Cedar Crest College field hockey team lost to the Keystone College Giants 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon as the team celebrated Senior Day. October is also Breast Cancer Awareness month as the teams came together wearing pink to honor a fellow fallen teammate.

The first half went almost scoreless, with both teams playing evenly. However, in the last few seconds of the half, Keystone put one right past freshman goalkeeper Cassandra Reijgers (Hollis, NH/Hollis Brookline) giving them the lead 1-0 going into halftime. Reijgers tallied five saves in the first half.

The second half began with freshmen midfielder Mackenzie Kistler and forward McKenna Hunt (Nazareth, Pa./Pen Argyl) taking shots, both being saved by the Keystone goalie. The ball was played back to the defensive end and Reijgers tallied another save for the Falcons. Hunt took another shot, missing just wide of the goal. The Giants would score two more times, each shot going just out of Reijgers' reach, giving them the 3-0 lead. In the 62nd minute of play, freshman defender Alexx Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Mechanicsburg Area) put one on the board for the Falcons, scoring off of a corner taken by freshman forward Rachel Bechtel (Temple, Pa./Berks Catholic). The game ended with a score of 3-1. Reijgers had a total of two saves in the second half.

The next game for the Falcons will be at fellow CSAC member Immaculata University on October 22 with game time slated at 1:00 PM.
