Box Score CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. - The Cedar Crest College soccer team lost to the Clarks Summit University Defenders 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Falcons came out strong within the first six minutes of play, rallying off one shot by sophomore Alexandra Zoda (Poughkeepsie, N.Y. /Roy C Ketcham Senior ) and two shots by junior Jackalyn Beckett (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt), but each was saved by the Defenders' keeper. Zoda looked to find the back of the net and shot two more times, one going just wide of the goal and the other stopped by the goalie. Senior Kim Incontrera (Staten Island, N.Y./Susan E. Wagner) and junior Tara Irvin (Chalfont, Pa. /Central Bucks) looked to give the Falcons the lead, but their shots were stopped by the Defender goalie. Clarks Summit took the lead 1-0 after shooting right past Falcon goalie Cara Montanye (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush Central ). Junior Caitlyn Mann (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) shot to tie the game, but the ball was saved by Clarks Summit goalie. At the end of the half, the Defenders were up 1-0 and Montanye tallied five saves.
In the second half, Clarks Summit widened their lead 2-0 in the 62nd minute of play. Senior Allison Rittle (Fredericksburg, PA/Northern Lebanon) shot, but missed just high of the goal. Freshman Kelsey Kehm (Trappe, Pa./Perkiomen Valley ) looked to put the Falcons on the board, but her shot hit the crossbar. Kehm shot again off the deflection, but her attempt was saved by the Defenders' goalie. The final score of the match was 2-0.
The next game for the Falcons is scheduled for October 25 against CSAC-foe Cabrini University in Radnor, Pa. The match is set to begin at 4:00 PM.
