Field Hockey Falls at Hood

Box Score FREDERICK, Md.---The Cedar Crest College field hockey team traveled to non-conference Hood College, in a late goal the team fell 1-0 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Falcons were able to release five shots, four on goal in the first half. Freshman defender Alexx Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Mechanicsburg Area) attempted a shot off of penalty corner, but the goalkeeper saved it. Freshman forward Rachel Betchel took a shot at 12:32 that resulted in a defensive save. Freshman midfielder Madison Bowen ( Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg Area Senior) had the next two attempts, the first was saved by the keeper and the follow up shot went wide as the teams went to halftime at a 0-0 tie.

The second half began with two shots by junior midfielder Elizabeth Lamm (Schnecksville, Pa./Parkland) with both shots missing just wide of the cage. A penalty corner taken by Betchel found freshman midfielder Jennie Fritz (Walnutport, Pa./Northern Lehigh) that was saved by the goalkeeper.  The Falcons had another penalty corner award in the 50th minute, again Betchel found a teammate, this time Lamm would connect as the shot was blocked. A penalty corner taken by Bowen had freshman midfielder Makenzie Kistler (Walnutport, Pa./Northampton) trying to get the team on the scoreboard, but the goalkeeper was there to make the save. Lamm had back-to-back shots, one missing wide while the other was saved.  Junior midfielder Hannah Gouck (Kintnersville, PA/Palisades) took her first shot in the 64th minute of play that was saved, and the follow up shot by Lamm was also saved. The final offensive attempt for Cedar Crest was in the 68th minute of play as Betchel took a penalty corner finding Miller who missed wide.

 The next game for Cedar Crest is on Saturday, October 8 at Neumann University in a CSAC match up with start time slated for noon.
