ALLENTOWN, Pa.--- The Cedar Crest College basketball team took on Neumann University in a Colonial States Athletic Conference game on Saturday afternoon in Lees Gymnasium in a 80-48 loss.
The Falcons took a 3-1 lead in the first quarter after freshman guard/forward
Rianna Kinard (Clinton, MD/Surrattsville High) made a layup. The Knights took the lead from there but with 5:59 left in the quarter the team went on a seven point run starting with sophomore forward
Shemeca Thompson (Bridgeport, CT/Warren Harding) making a layup to cut the lead to eight from there junior guard
Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) knocked down two free throws brining within six. A three pointer by
Kinard finished the run with the Falcons trailing by three with a little over five minutes to play. The team would trail 21-11 after the end of the first.
The Knights took the lead starting the second quarter that the Falcons couldn't' battle back from.
Kinard led the team with 16 points, five rebounds and one steal while
Osley banked 12 points, three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Freshman guard
Tenille Stewart added seven points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals.
Thompson grabbed a game-high of 12 rebounds, scored four points and had one block. Freshman forward
Katherina Pierre (Middletown, NY /John S. Burke Catholic) had six rebounds, scored nine points, one assist, two blocks and two steals while senior
Kayleigh Keggan (Blairstown, NJ/Belvidere) had two rebounds and one assist.
The next game is on Wednesday, February 17 at 7:30 p.m. as the team hosted a Black Out game as all fans are asked to wear a black Cedar Crest attire as the team host CSAC opponent Cairn University.
