Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Cedar Crest College field hockey team fell 2-1 to non-conference Wells College on Sunday afternoon.
The Falcons trailed 1-0 after an early goal in the first few minutes of play. Cedar Crest retaliated by scoring off of a penalty stroke in the seventh minute, evening out the score 1-1, by junior midfielder Elizabeth Lamm () who netted it for the Falcons by shooting high past the goalie. This was Lamm's second goal of the season. There was a cluster of shots from freshmen forwards McKenna Hunt () and Rachel Betchel both sailing one just wide of the goal. The Wells goalie saved two shots, one each from freshman defender Alexx Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa/Mechanicsburg Area) and freshman midfielder Madison Bowen ( Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg Area Senior). Freshman goalie Emma Ryan (/Park View) tallied three saves for the Falcons, ending the first half 1-1.
The second half began fast with a shot by Wells and a defensive save by Miller. Wells pulled ahead 2-1 after scoring in the 38th minute of play. Hunt, senior forward Samantha VanBeers (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) and freshman midfielder Makenzie Kistler () each took shots that were wide of the goal. Miller tallied 3 shots in the second half.Ryan had 3 saves to end the game 2-1.
