Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. - The Cedar Crest College basketball team beat Clarks Summit University 71-46 to earn their first Colonial Athletic States Conference win of the season on Wednesday evening.
In the first quarter, the Falcons and the Defenders went point-for-point as Clarks Summit took the quarter 16-15. Cedar Crest came back in the second quarter, out scoring the Defenders 35-26. Regaining the lead with a layup was freshman guard/forward Geminii Cabrera (Reading, Pa./Berks Catholic) who had a game and career high 33 points on the night. A layup from junior forward Shemeca Thompson (Bridgeport, CT/Warren Harding) and senior guard Taylor Osley (Allentown, PA/Louis E. Dieruff High School) allowed the Falcons a nine point lead heading into halftime. Returning to the court the Black and Yellow used the momentum to net another 21 points to the Defenders' 13 and took the third quarter 56-39. Cedar Crest extended the lead as a team playing good defense to earn a 71-46 win.
Leading the Falcons in points with 33 was Cabrera who also had nine rebounds, two assists and six steals on the night. Osley tallied 13 points, seven rebounds, one assist, and three steals. Thompson led the Falcons in blocks with two while earning her first double-double with 12 points and and 10 rebounds, while adding two steals. Sophomore guard Tenille Stewart (Pennsauken, NJ/Pennsauken) netted five points, six rebounds and had three steals.
The Falcons will be traveling to Baltimore, Md. on Saturday, January 14 to take on CSAC foe Notre Dame of Maryland University. The game is set to begin at 2:00 PM.
