KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Cedar Crest College soccer team was one of three teams in the Colonial States Athletic Conference that was recently honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) with the 2016 College Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award.
"I'm thrilled to receive this honor from the NSCAA, stated Head Coach
Sarah Wolcott." "We make it a point to conduct ourselves with the utmost respect during matches. Competition can get intense, and like John Wooden said, "it reveals our character." I'm so proud to receive this award from the NSCAA."
The Team Ethics and Sportsmanship Award is given to NSCAA members at four levels. Teams honored at the platinum level went an entire season without a player or coach receiving a yellow card or red card. Teams honored at the gold (1-10%), silver (11-30%) and bronze (31-50%) levels are based on a percentage calculated by the total number of cards received by players/coaches divided by the team's total number of games played. The Falcons received the Silver Award from the organization. This award is given to teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and follow the Rules of the Game.
