Falcons Win Final Game

Box Score LANGHORNE, Pa.---The Cedar Crest College soccer team finished their season on the road at Cairn University as the Falcons defeated the Highlanders 2-0 on a rainy on Thursday afternoon.

"We ended our season on a great note," stated Head Coach Sarah Wolcott. "We played very well.... probably the best collective effort for 90 minutes.   We played relaxed and synced up offensively. We responded very well to cairn's direct style of play. It was a great way to send off our seniors and gives us positive momentum moving forward."

The Black and Yellow jumped out to an early lead with a goal from freshman forward Daria Warner (Harrisburg, Pa./Bishop McDevitt) at the 2:48 mark as she dribbled into the box for a one-on-one situation where she tucked the shot in past the keeper. On the teams fifth shot, seniors midfielder Jackalyn Beckett (New Egypt, N.J./New Egypt) and Caitlyn Mann (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) linked up. Beckett served up a corner kick right to the feet of Mann who ripped a shot past the goalkeeper. The Falcons would have one other shot before halftime, but missed high, junior goalkeeper Morgan Maddock (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial High School) faced six shot making four saves to keep the 2-0 lead headed into half.

In the second half, Mann had the first shot of the half, she set it on frame, but the goalkeeper made the save. Freshman defender Kara Brownlie (Southampton, Pa./Abington Friends School) had the next shot for the Falcons at 69:05 that the goalkeeper again came up with the save. With back-to-back shots by Beckett, and freshman forward Erika D'Angelo (Jackson, N.J./Jackson Memorial ) the Falcons couldn't extend the lead as the goalkeeper made both stops. After facing four shots sophomore goalkeeper Cara Montanye (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush Central ) made two saves in the 2-0 win.

Cedar Crest finished the season with a 8-9 overall record, and with a 4-7 in conference.
