Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. ---The Cedar Crest College field hockey team returned to the turf for a non-conference match against Hood College on Wednesday afternoon where the Falcons owned their home field winning 3-0.
The Falcons scored two goals in the first half, after 11 shots the Falcons scored their first goal, a follow-up shot by freshman midfielder
Annalise Unger (Burlington, VT /Rice Memorial ). The initial shot by sophomore midfielder
Makenzie Kistler (Walnutport, Pa./Northampton) was saved by the goalkeeper, but
Unger was there for the rebound to score her fifth goal of the year. Â Goal number two of the half was by senior midfielder
Hannah Gouck (Kintnersville, PA/Palisades) who made her way down the field to blast her seventh goal of the season into the net to take a 2-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half the Falcons continued to control the game earning 10 penalty corners, and 10 shots. The third goal came after one of those corners, freshman midfielder
Mercedes Melo (Lehighton, Pa./Palmerton Area) inserted the ball which after a few passes found its way to freshman forward
Brice Gardner (Gardners, Pa./Biglerville ), who passed it to
Melo to finish in front of the goal for her fifth goal of the season. The Falcons defense allowed zero shots on goal for the fifth shutout of the year.
The next game for Cedar Crest is on Saturday, October 7 at 11:00 a.m. against Immaculata in Colonial States Athletic Conference play.
