Field Hockey Drops Game Against Immauclata

Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. ---The Cedar Crest College field hockey team hosted Colonial States Athletic Conference foe Immaculata University Saturday afternoon where the Falcons fell, 3-1.

With multiple shots in the begining of the half the teams were evenly matched it wasn't until five minutes left in the half did the Black and Yellow take the lead. The Falcons took the lead in the 30th minute when freshman forward Ally Arabio (Egg Harbor, N.J./Egg Harbor ) found fellow freshman Annalise Unger (Burlington, VT /Rice Memorial ) who finished the play taking the lead, 1-0. The visitor capitalized on a penalty stroke and another quick goal before halftime to take back the lead.

Immaculata came out and scored a quick goal for a 3-1 lead. The Falcons looked to cut the deficit by earning the corner, inserting was freshman midfielder Mercedes Melo (Lehighton, Pa./Palmerton Area) who found senior midfielder Hannah Gouck (Kintnersville, PA/Palisades) for the shot that was blocked. Sophomore Makenzie Kistler (Walnutport, Pa./Northampton) looked to bring the team within one, but the goalkeeper foiled that with a save. The team earned another corner that Melo inserted resulting in two shots, the first by Kistler that was saved, and the follow up by sophomore midfielder Jennie Fritz (Walnutport, Pa./Northern Lehigh). A plethora of shots were fired for the Falcons, earning four corners in the process, but unfortunately no goals. The last shot for Cedar Crest was by Unger when she was found at then end of a corner which was saved for a final of 3-1.

The next game for Cedar Crest is on Wednesday, October 11 at 4:00 p.m. at the FalconPlex against Marywood University.
