ASTON, Pa. – The Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) has announced the Fall 2017 recipients of the CSAC 3-D Award, which honors the teams from each sport that best exemplified the NCAA Division III principles of "
Discover, Develop, Dedicate."
The 3-D Award was developed prior to the 2011 academic year by the CSAC's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Following each conference contest, participating teams were asked to evaluate their opponents based on the three aforementioned Division III principles, giving a rating of 1-10 in each "D" category. The 3-D award for field hockey went to Cedar Crest College. This is the fourth time the Falcons have won the award, previously winning it in 2015, 2014 and 2011.
"I am proud of the way the girls represented themselves on and off the field this season," commented Head Coach
Kellina Yarrish. "Our athletes did a great job staying composed all season in the face of tough calls. They excel in time management and truly encompass what it means to be a Division III athlete. Not only do they perform on the field, but in the class room to become well-rounded young women. They represent what our department instills in them from day one, that they are no longer just representing themselves, but Cedar Crest College as a whole."
"For the seventh year in a row, we are extremely pleased with the reception of the 3-D award among our conference's student-athletes," said CSAC Commissioner
Adrienne Mullikin. "The fact that all voting is conducted by fellow student-athletes should make it even that much more meaningful for all of the winners. The conference commends the fall 3-D winners, and thanks them for their commitment to upholding the principles of NCAA Division-III."
